Shankar says that Three Idiots made him forget Endhiran

The super hit Hindi film Three Idiots is being remade in Tamil with the title Nanban. The film which is being directed by Shankar has Vijay, Jeeva, Srikanth, Ileana and Sathyaraj in the cast. Shankar who has completed his second schedule is getting ready for the third schedule.
Shankar while speaking to the media said," Initially I was having the intention not to direct remake films. Three Idiots broke this policy. I am directing this film with much dedication than any other films. My actors are also like this.
I had gone to Lonavala near Poona for the shooting of Endhiran. But I could not get permission to shoot there. So in order to relax I went to a nearby theatre to watch the Hindi film Three Idiots. Though I was watching the film, my mind was always thinking about the sequence that was to be shot for Endhiran on that day. But slowly I started forgetting this and started involving in Three Idiots. I was fully absorbed in the story, romance and comedy of that film. Only after the film was over, the memory of Endhiran came to me. At that time itself I decided to produce this film under S Banner.
I never thought that I will direct this film. There is no difficulty in directing this film though there are many characters. Director Rajkumar Hirani has proved that it is possible to tell a story which has many characters through the film Three Idiots. I am very thankful to him at this moment. Many are telling the trailer of Sharukh Khan’s R A One is similar to Endhiran. Since I had spoken to Sharukh about Robot, there might have been an impact. I have not thought of Endhiran 2. I will be concentrating on that after Nanban is over."
